Embracing Authenticity: A Journey of Wholeness and Growth

In the vast tapestry of life, there are moments when we stand at a crossroads, uncertain of which path to take. My family and I had that pivotal moment when our children were accepted into Steiner schools in both Armidale and Coffs Harbour, NSW. It was a dream come true – an opportunity for them to receive a holistic education that nurtured their minds, bodies, and spirits.

But as we weighed our options, we realized that this decision would come at a cost. To afford rent in these towns, we would need to sacrifice our debt-free lifestyle in the rural oasis we called home, and we would both have to work full-time to afford this educational option for our children. It was a difficult realization – one that forced us to confront the true meaning of holistic living.

We had always sought to create a life that was deeply connected to nature, where our children could roam freely and learn from the land where we could be part of their education, and growth, and collect memories as a bower bird collects blue things for its nest. Yet, in pursuing their education, we risked losing sight of that vision. It was a sobering moment, one that made us re-evaluate our priorities and reconsider our path forward.

And so, with courage and determination, I embarked on a new journey – one that would lead me to the practice of yoga. As I trained as a fitness instructor and personal trainer, I had long been drawn to the transformative power of movement, but it was through yoga that I discovered a deeper sense of connection – to myself, to my family, and to the world around me.

In 2012, I obtained my certification as a yoga teacher after the gym owner in Glen Innes suggested I take a class and teach yoga, and my journey toward wholeness began in earnest. Balancing the demands of study, motherhood, and homemaking was no easy feat, but with the unwavering support of my family and the guidance of my teacher, Carrie Ann Fields, I persevered.

Through the ups and downs, the triumphs and setbacks, I remained steadfast in my commitment to authenticity – to living a life that was true to my values and beliefs. In January of this year, that commitment bore fruit with the launch of YoZenQi Yoga, my online studio dedicated to sharing the practice of yoga with others. This stage takes time, energy, and persistence to grow, it doesn’t happen immediately but with gentle nurturing, I hope to see a beautiful willow tree grow next to the running stream that YoZenQi – Yoga is.

As YoZenQi Yoga continues to grow, I am filled with gratitude for the journey that has brought me to this moment. It has been a journey marked by hardship and sacrifice, but also by love, resilience, and the boundless beauty of the human spirit.

So, I invite you to join me on the mat, to explore the depths of your being and embrace the wonderful authenticity of your nature and life. Together, let us cultivate a sense of wholeness and growth, one breath at a time.

With love and gratitude,
Megen
