So, what is green washing?
How do we tell if we are under the spell of greenwashing?
If you haven’t heard of “greenwashing” yet, hold on to your latte the journey is about to get rough!!!
Greenwashing, just writing that word makes me shake my head in horror and disbelief.
This is one of those words that until you stick your head down the proverbial “rabbit hole” you are not going to believe.
Today I am giving you a brief, even-tempered explanation of what “greenwashing” is..
However, for full information, the movie below explains things that you are going to be shocked, disillusioned, and confused about…
It takes an hour and a half to fully break you down and realize that what you “thought” you knew, you really haven’t had a clue about…
Ready, set GO
Now to be 100% honest I have to tell you before I started with Young Living oils I had NEVER heard of “greenwashing” However, now I am 100% committed to avoiding being sucked into this by any other company and protecting my family along the way.
I will always share information that I can verify in the public interest and research it until my brain explodes.
Here is an overview of “greenwashing”
- Greenwashing involves making unsubstantiated claims about products so that customers will purchase them thinking that they are environmentally secure.
- Companies try to deceive consumers into believing that a company’s products are environmentally friendly or have a safe environmental impact.
- Companies trying to grab the consumers’ spending and capitalizing or revenue-grabbing on products that consumers believe are environmentally safe.
- Creating a false sense or communicating information that the company is environmentally safe.
- Adding green labels to give a sense of environmental safety.
- Putting enticing labels on, like the earth, to make a product feel green.
- Not being able to back up claims of environmental safety
- Not disclosing all the ingredients and using “prioritized information” or “fragrance, parfum” to cover up to 1800 different chemicals under one word.

Companies don’t have to disclose everything, that is where we as consumers come in and do our research.
If a product has words like “PARFUM”, Fragrance, look deeper before purchasing.
Another good thought is, that if you feel the need to wear gloves or a mask while using a product, it probably has WAY too many chemicals to list or be safe for you and the family.
Google is full of information and I have scattered a few links to different articles, this one is to ASICS and shares the commissioner’s findings.
Once you start to learn more about this subject, the more you want to find links like this that help you find products that are NO TOX for your family and home.
Or businesses like Young Living which has great cleaning, health, and wellness products that support the family.
I am now a member of Young Living and help others start to detox their homes and lives using Young Living products and oils for their homes, work, and cars.
These products came into my life after being a long-term (20+ years) user of oils just by following another mother over in WA detox her home.
That was what made me start watching, it was what started me signing up to Young Living as a member.

It was what 4 months ago changed the way I looked at green living.
I have been grateful and healthier with this switch especially as I started when we were heading into the Aussie Spring season, a season that usually leaves me with a box of tissues, drugged out and snot running like a leaky faucet.
I have had minimal issues this year, I didn’t run out and do a Claratyne ad, and I was still careful, but overall I have had only a few bad days over the spring and now summer is here.
Just have a look at the list in this link, The best natural and nontoxic laundry liquids list… Thieves by Young Living is number three…that is a great endorsement to me.

If you would like to grab a starter pack and join me on a detoxing, low-tox journey with Young Living, then click this link and I will also send you out a welcome pack to help get you started.
Your best friend in today’s society of duplicity is to research and learn whatever you can to support yourself and your family’s health and wellness.
xx
