Camper trailer me today!!!

Bugger off!! Take us away where me the wife and kids can go and play was my husbands words when someone told him that we needed a newer, flashier camper trailer.

We had the pleasure to run into some people as we tripped around Northern NSW over the last few months and some where really concerned that our little camper trailer just wasn’t measuring up to the “FLASH” factor that is expected of todays models.

Okay, so our trailer hasn’t got all the mod cons of todays models but, it is like an old Akubra hat, once it is worn it, it fits perfectly and is so comfortable that you never want to part with it.

We have a kitchen, gas bottle holders, jerry holders , under water storage , power and a “KING SIZED BED” perfect for mum and dad at the end of a very adventurous day.

Our old, but awesome camper trailer

The camper we have is an old Outback Camper from QLD, they are no longer made anymore, but it is 4wd worthy. She only cost us a couple of grand and gives us so much fun.

Over the last few years, we have taken our camper trailer to some VERY off road places, with it’s high under carriage and easy light nature she has never let us down (or even got a flat tyre) on any of our travels.

We do have plans for her upgrade, not the type your thinking, just a few minor adjustments.

These adjustments are things like getting the annex reworked. We are wanting to remove the old and have the canvas guys down the coast make us one twice as wide with a floor in it.

By doing this we give the kids more room (Stuart and I private time) where they can sleep in their swags out in the annex while Stuart and I get the inside to ourselves.

Potatoes on the coals, billy at the ready, sit back and enjoy the view.

Our kids are getting more adventurous every time we head out, they constantly are trying to get their father to let them take the tinny on their own or heading out for a fish or hunt in a little pack.

This extension will give them more of their own space and some extra for oursleves.

Over the coming year of 2022, we are planning more spontaneous trips than ever before. Heading to national parks, state forests and some rather spectacular private country that we have been allowed to fish, hunt and camp on.

Before we can head off this winter though we will be trying to sort our extensions first to make those trips just that little more comfortable for us all.

Our old camper isn’t the same as the new and we love the way they look and are always excited and impressed with the latest mod-cons. However, for us as a family of six getting one of those larger camper trailers would mean also having to upgrade our car which is tired and once we do that we wouldn’t be able to just head off into the wild blue yonder.

I think, maybe one day, we may upgrade our old girls, now though we will be satisfied with them and enjoy all the adventures that they can take us on (and hope they just keep rolling) …
